Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How can I remove (insert stain here) from leather?

A. It depends on the nature of the stain and on the type of leather...

Suede, nubuck and aniline leathers
These require particular care as they lack a protective coating so the stain, and any product you use to remove it, may soak into the leather. Use products specifically designed for these types of finish and follow the instructions carefully.

Oily or greasy stains
There are products available for degreasing leather - see products.

Ball point pen
There are products designed to remove fresh ink from leather (see products) but these must be used straight away. If left for a few hours the ink can migrate through the surface coating and into the leather making removal very difficult.

Q. Can I call on an expert to sort my leather problem?

A. There are professional cleaners with experience in cleaning leather and there are craftsmen who can repair or renovate leather products for you. See our products page for contact details.

Q. Can I make my old leather suite/jacket smell like new?

A. There are a few products available, including a "leather aroma disk". See our products page.
